Several goals of the athletic program are met or intensified through the participation of competitive sports. They are as follows:
Each athlete becomes familiar with the rules, regulations and skills necessary to participate in an effective manner.
The students develop physical qualities of strength, endurance and coordination, as well as enhance athletic ability.
The athletes foster and develop a sense of fairness, team play, personal responsibility, self-discipline and commitment.
A positive self-image is formed.
The athletes develop school spirit and loyalty.
Athletic Philosophy
Sacred Heart Schools dedicates itself to educating girls and boys mentally, physically, and spiritually. The Athletic Department views the activities of the playing fields and courts as an extension of the classroom. Team sports provide a forum, within which students learn to assume roles of leadership and team play, develop sportsmanship, self-discipline, respect for others and the acceptance of success and failure.
