Most school days, 50-150 students remain on campus after school to participate in extracurricular activities. Students can take a range of After School Classes from dance, music lessons, arts and crafts to cooking, learning languages and playing games. Special groups like Girl Scouts and Science Olympiads are also offered after school. Depending on the activity, students are given the chance to enhance their creative and analytical thinking skills, engage in hands-on learning, interact across gender and age-ranged groups, increase their self confidence and self presentation skills through performance opportunities, and have fun. By focusing on the whole child, Sacred Heart educators understand that students need formation of body and spirit as well as an education of the heart and mind.
Core After School
After School Care is offered throughout the year from the end of the school day to 6 pm. Core After School Program activities include peer tutoring, computer time and outdoor playtime. This extended day-care program is provided to our families free of charge.
Celebrating student artwork and musical talents are important at Sacred Heart. Several students enter their work into the Artsonia Art Class Pilot Program contests. If a student's work is honored, Artsonia awards money to the school to purchase art supplies. Gallery Night, an annual event in May, showcases student artwork throughout the school year and musical performances. Middle School students put on a musical each year in the spring. Previous musicals have been Grease, The Wizard of Oz, 1776 and Anything Goes.

Nearly half of our student body participates in athletics after school. Sacred Heart offers volleyball, soccer, softball, basketball, cross country, baseball and track.

Some special programs Sacred Heart offers are Schools Rock, Justice Day and International Night. Each of these events highlights our students' and families' talents with performances, artwork, speakers and international celebrations.
Class trips help students explore new places and learn about areas they are studying in their classes. The 6th graders attend a Ropes Course in Wisconsin in October. The 7th graders travel for a week in May to Alabama for Space Academy. The 8th graders visit Camp Rosenthal in October for community service and travel to Washington, DC for a week in May to visit historic museums and meet with politicians.
