The SHS Goal Award 2010

Helen Bruns Ryan

Celebrating Goal Five - Schools of the Sacred Heart educate to personal growth in an atmosphere of wise freedom.

The recipient of the 7th annual Sacred Heart Schools Goal Award is Helen Bruns Ryan. Helen Ryan is a dear friend of Sacred Heart Schools and of our sister schools, Woodlands Academy and Josephinum Academy, where she is the Chair Emerita of their Board of Directors. She is an Associate of the Society of the Sacred Heart, and inspired the Helen Bruns Ryan Award, given annually since 1993 at Josephinum, for outstanding commitment and service to the school. Helen currently has two grandchildren attending Sacred Heart Schools.

In choosing Helen, the committee recognized that she has consistently made wise and thoughtful decisions benefitting Sacred Heart students in Chicago and beyond. One of Helen's nominations said "Helen has worked tirelessly in improving the lives of young women through her dedication and leadership at Josephinum Academy over the past 25 years." It goes on to say, "She had the vision of taking a struggling institution and turning it around to a successful college prep high school."

The Goal Award was presented at the Sponsor Reception at L'Esprit de Sacré Coeur February 20, 2010 at the Fairmont Hotel.
