From Fine Arts Week 2011 last May

Gallery Night

We celebrated and hosted several visiting artists at school and the community gathered to view art and to hear musical performances of guitar, voice and piano, including a performance by the Sacred Heart Choir. The Middle School Filmmaking Class premiered several short films that have been produced with fig media as part of a special afterschool class.

Watercolorist Marin Malm, 2004 Caldecott Medal Award Chair Kathy East, artist in residency Sue Black and author Paula Belnap spoke to different grade levels during Fine Arts Week.

Artsonia Contest Winner

Congratulations to Alex H7 who won an Artsonia Artist of the Week award.

Alex received a plaque with a reproduction of his art work and a $50 gift certificate to Dick Blick Art Supplies. Sacred Heart also received a $100 gift certificate to Dick Blick Art Supplies.

Alex received 700 votes on Artsonia's website. His work was nominated along with two other artists in his age group from across the United States.
