Nearly 100 new students, grades K-6 and 18 faculty and staff members were inducted to the Red and White Teams on Friday, September 14.
Team members compete all year to earn points for their team. At the end of Field Day - the day before the school year ends - an announcement is made declaring which team has earned the most points and “wins” for the year. Most recently in the 2011-2012 school year the White Team came from behind and won the Red/White Cup! Students and faculty and staff earn points through various competitions like the Annual Penny Drive, Spirit Week activities, and races and events held on Field Day.
Students can also earn points for their team through acts of good citizenship. When students are observed being particularly helpful, polite or kind in the community they are reported to Dr. Sharp, and their teams are awarded points. Spirit Leaders for each team - elected as a part of Student Council -help generate ideas for ways teams can earn points, and they track point accumulations on a bulletin board in the cafeteria.
