Voice lessons, Music Instrument Lessons, (guitar and piano), Choir, Band, Cub Scouts/Girl Scouts and Glee Club are offered after school.
Band for Grades 4-5-6-7-8
The Sacred Heart Band returns for its third year led by Mr. Tim Mikolay, Primary School Music Teacher.
Students New to Band: We invite students new to band to join. There will be an instrument fitting session offered to each interested child in mid-September and lessons will start in late September/early October. There will be a weekly group lesson by section one morning before school (7:40-8:20am), periodic Ensemble rehearsals will be held on Friday mornings with returning band members and a spring performance. Returning Band Members: Starting in mid-September, the ensemble will rehearse weekly on Friday mornings from 7:30am – 8:15am. Performance schedule has yet to be determined. Please email Dr. Sharp Sally.Sharp@shschicago.org to confirm your interest in returning to band this fall.
All students in grades 3rd to 8thare invited to participate in the Sacred Heart Liturgical Choir. Rehearsals will start in mid-September and will be held on Tuesdays, immediately after school until 4:30pm. Ms. Becker will be leading the choir during school liturgies. Hardy Prep’s own Cub Scout Pack 4250 will begin its third full year this fall with FIVE dens of Cub Scouts. Fourth grade boys will be in two Webelos dens led by Tom Joyer, Chris Kiergan, Tom Fencl, and other leaders. Third grade boys will continue with a Bear den led by Marc Garrison and Mike Judy. Second graders will have a Wolf den led by Jim Lowry. We will also form a new den of Tigers for first grade boys. While parents should be involved at all level of Cub Scouts, the Tiger Cub year includes a higher level of parent involvement as the younger boys get used to the Scouting program. If you are interested in helping form our newest den of Tiger Cubs or in your son joining one of our existing dens in second through fourth grade, please contact our Cubmaster, David Christian at 312-282-5282 or firstname.lastname@example.org. Pack 4250 will also organize a couple of summertime activities, including Scout Day at Wrigley Field in August. Go Scouting!
Sacred Heart Schools will be hosting the following Girl Scout Troops for 2014-2015.
Juniors (Grade 4 & 5) and Brownies (Grades 2 & 3). The troops will meet afterschool on weekday afternoons: Mondays for Juniors (grade 4) Wednesdays for Brownies (2 & 3). Meeting day for the Junior Troop (Grade 5) is yet to be determined and will be posted on as soon as the information is available.
Troop registration will be available via Afterschool Registration as of August 8, y going to the After School Class registration page of this website at http://www.shschicago.org/page.cfm?p=405. Registration forms and dues will be discussed at initial meetings.

Sacred Heart Schools Glee Club, under the direction of Justin Nixon, Middle School Music Teacher, is open to new and returning students in grades 6th-8th. Practice will be held on Wednesday mornings from 7:20-8:15am in the Chapel. The Glee Club will perform at various on and off-campus gatherings throughout the year. There is no fee for Glee.
