Business Office Associate with HR Responsibilities

Founded in Chicago in 1876, Sacred Heart Schools at Sheridan Road (Hardey Preparatory for Boys and Academy of the Sacred Heart for Girls) are independent, Catholic, single-sex elementary schools committed to academic excellence within the context of a Christian, faith-based community.  The educational mission is deeply rooted in the 200-year tradition of the Society of the Sacred Heart and shared with the Network of Sacred Heart Schools located in 32 countries, including 21 schools in the United States.  The essence of this tradition is the total development of each child: spiritual, intellectual, social, emotional and physical.

The Business Office Associate will work within the scope of the Goals and Criteria of Sacred Heart to support the educational mission of the school.  The Business Office Associate will perform accounting and human resources functions.  The accounting function entails preparing monthly bank reconciliations, entries in the general ledger, follow-up on outstanding accounts, compiling data for financial reports and assists with internal controls and the yearly audit. 

The human resources function entails receiving all résumés, filtering job applicants to the appropriate supervisor and follow-up, coordinating backgrounds checks, managing employment law compliance and assisting with the administration of the benefits program.
Skills Required/Preferred

  1. Bachelor’s degree required; preference in Business Administration;
  2. Candidates must be reliable and have strong communication skills;
  3. The ability to perform multiple functions during the course of the day;
  4. Experience with Human Resources;
  5. Computer proficient with Microsoft Word and Excel;
  6. Experience with Blackbaud’s Education Edge is a plus.

Music Teacher

The music teacher will work within the scope of the Goals and Criteria of Sacred Heart education to teach singing, rhythm, and other beginning music skills to students in Kindergarten through second grade.  In addition to implementing the curriculum, the music teacher will be responsible for preparing the children for masses, prayer services, and the celebration of sacraments, as well as planning and execution of a kindergarten and a first/second grade concert.  As a member of the Primary School Faculty, this teacher will be responsible for teaching, curriculum evaluation, student assessment, and working as an active team member with other members of the primary school faculty.  Piano skills are desirable, but not required.
 
Bachelors Degree required, Masters Degree preferred. Salary and benefits are competitive.

Technology Integration Specialist

The technology integration specialist will provide K-8 leadership to assist teachers in integrating technology with the curriculum through a “hands on” approach.  Through co-planning and co-teaching with both the technology teacher(s) and classroom teachers in the primary, lower, and middle school, the technology integration specialist will impart knowledge of software and hardware applications for use within the classroom.  In addition, she/he will work along side the Technology Systems Administrator to provide knowledge and implementation of appropriate software to administrative staff and departments.  Based in this experience of leadership, the technology integration specialist will work with the Principal and other Administrators to build the annual technology budget. She/he will work with other members of the technology staff to purchase technology equipment.

Skills Required/Preferred

  1. Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s in academic technology integration or similar discipline preferred;
  2. Coursework and/or experience in elementary education and/or teaching certificate preferred;
  3. An understanding of key learning theories and methods of instruction, and their relation to technology integration;
  4. Familiarity with methods for integrating technology into the curriculum such as WebQuests, online resources, digital portfolios and other forms of assessment;
  5. Experience with Smartboards, projectors and other integration technology components;
  6. Experience with effective technology teaching strategies in teaching software and hardware skills; ability to effectively conduct faculty in-service training;
  7. Technology skills in up-to-date computer software, including word processing, database, spreadsheet, Web page development, presentation, digital video and audio editing, image processing, and graphics applications;
  8. Experience with Blackbaud data management systems preferred.

Hardey Preparatory for Boys of Sacred Heart Schools is seeking a fourth grade classroom teacher in the Lower School, (grades 3-5).  The qualified candidate should have experience teaching multiple subjects in a semi-departmental grade level.  The candidate should also possess an awareness of current pedagogy of single gender education and a desire to work in an all boys classroom.

The successful candidate should possess a minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree (Masters preferred), experience teaching at the lower school level, ideally, in an all-boys classroom.  Hardey Prep offers an opportunity to participate in the total development of each child in a faith-based learning community.

Teaching assistants will work with one or more classrooms at the Kindergarten, first, or second grade level assisting with instruction, classroom preparation, student supervision, management, and other activities as needed.  Hours are 7:45-4:00 (7:30-4:00 on Tuesdays) with limited expectations outside of the school day.   As a member of the primary school faculty, teaching assistants will be responsible for open communication with teachers, professional and nurturing interactions with students and parents, and for working as an active member of the grade level teams.

Coach Positions for Volleyball, Soccer, and Basketball

Primary responsibilities of all coaches will be to teach and drill the fundamentals.  The coach is also expected to provide a positive and exciting environment for our student athletes.  They are expected to coach within the scope of the Goals and Criteria of Sacred Heart Education and the Athletic Handbook.  

Coaching experience is required.  A competitive stipend will be given.  Start date for positions are as follows:

Volleyball         August 1, 2008
Soccer             August 1, 2008
Basketball        October 15, 2008
