The suggested application deadline for Grades Two through Eight, 2008-09, is February 1, 2008. Applications received after this date will be reviewed as time and openings permit.

Procedures
Complete an application. By February 1, 2008 Complete all sections of the application form, making sure that it is signed by both parents (or the custodial parent if parents are divorced). Return the application to the Admissions Office with an application fee of $75 and a copy of your child's most recent report card. The Admissions Office will acknowledge receipt of your application. Application forms are available through the Admissions Office or can be downloaded from this website. You may also apply online for a reduced fee of $60.
Schedule your parent visit. October 2007 through March 2008 After you have received the letter from the Schools acknowledging your application, call the Admissions Office to arrange for your parent visit. This private appointment will allow you to tour the campus, discuss the Schools' program and philosophy with the Admissions Director, and share important information about your child. Appointments last about an hour and are typically scheduled for mornings when school is in session. It is usually preferable for both parents to attend the interview.
Schedule your child's visit: Shadow Days are scheduled for January 30, March 5, and April 30, 2008. Other days are available by special arrangement. Your child will spend a day visiting Sacred Heart in a class at his or her grade level. With the help of a special student host, your child will have an opportunity to meet other students, participate in normal class activities, and learn more about the kind of education offered at Sacred Heart. In order to help us become better acquainted with your child's learning needs, a special time during the day will be set aside to meet individually with a teacher. For children in grades five through eight, this meeting will include a formal skills assessment (reading comprehension, vocabulary development, mathematics and writing), taking about an hour.
Submit your child's teacher recommendations. Due March 1, 2008 Your current school will be asked to complete a set of recommendations for your child. Students applying to Second through Fifth Grade require two recommendations one from the child's teacher and one from the principal. Students applying to Sixth through Eighth Grade require three recommendations one each from the student's English and math teachers and one from the school's principal. Sacred Heart uses the Chicago Independent School Recommendation form, which, as its name suggests, also is used by many other private schools in the area. The current school should complete each form, maintain the originals for its records, and send copies to the Admissions Office, along with a copy of your child's most recent report card. Recommendation forms will be mailed to you in December and are due in the Admissions Office no later than March 1. A Consent to Release Information form also is mailed with the recommendation.
Admissions Decisions Announced as openings allow. Admissions decisions for Second through Eighth Grade 2008-09 will be announced as openings allow. Accepted families wishing to enroll their child will be asked to submit an enrollment agreement and $1000 deposit in order to reserve their space. Deposits are non-refundable, but are applied toward the first year's tuition.
