Cradles To Crayons

Spring Greening Drive (April 24-28, 2017)

As part of Sacred Heart's Earth Week activities, we will be hosting a drive for Cradles to Crayons. The clothing, toys and books that no longer fit your family can have another useful life in the hands of a child in need!

What is Cradles to Crayons? Cradles to Crayons is a nonprofit that serves Chicago children from infants to 12 year olds living in homeless or low-income situations. They work to connect communities that have with communities in need by collecting donations of childhood essentials. Cradles to Crayons partners with social service organizations to deliver these items to children in need free of charge. We look forward to taking large groups of students to learn and serve at Cradles to Crayons in the near future!

Which items can I donate? Clothing, footwear, outwear, toys, books and baby gear. Donation guidelines and a tax receipt are attached below.

When can I donate? During the week of April 24th-28th ONLY donations can be made during morning drop off on Rosemont, or you can send them with your children on the bus to drop off.

How can I help? "Spring Green" your house and donate items! We also need parent volunteers the week of April 24-28 to accept donations on Rosemont each morning and would love to have your help. Please sign-up to volunteer here. If you have any questions, please contact parent organizer Stacy Jakobe, or Paz Salas, Coordinator of Service Learning and Community Partnerships, at mariapaz.salas@shschicago.org.
