"Wherever you go, whatever road you may travel, Alumni Weekend 2018: Rediscover Sheridan Road! On October 19-21, 2018, Sacred Heart alumnae/i from years 1948-2008 gathered to celebrate their memories on Sheridan Road. The Academy of the Sacred Heart Class of 1968 (above) celebrated their 50th reunion.
FRIDAY COCKTAIL RECEPTION Classes gathered in the Cole Masterpiece Room for hors d'oeuvres, drinks and conversation, and the 8th grade Alumni Ambassadors offered tours throughout the school. The most special part of the evening was seeing friends who have been apart for 30, 40 or 50 years greet each other with hugs and smiles. SATURDAY ALUMNI CLASSES AND CAFETERIA LUNCH Alumnae/i from numerous graduation classes gathered on Sheridan Road to participate in "Alumni Classes" taught by Sr. Nancy Kehoe, RSCJ ASH'55 and former SHS faculty members Jody Stawicki, Dan Flaherty and Katie Roeck. Alums enjoyed being back in class, having thoughtful discussions and creating art. Others joined us for lunch and visited with friends in the cafeteria. SUNDAY MASS AND AWARDS PRESENTATION On Sunday morning, alumnae/i from the Sheridan Road community gathered for Mass, followed by the presentation of the Seiker and Haggarty Awards. This year, Carol Rae Culliton, PhD ASH'68 received the 22nd Sr. Catherine I Seiker, RSCJ Award, and Sr. Nancy Kehoe, RSCJ, PhD ASH'55 received the 2nd Sr. Carol A. Haggarty, RSCJ ASH'59 Leadership Award. Sheridan Road is honored to have these two extraordinary women counted among its alumnae. Sr. Nancy Kehoe, RSCJ PhD ASH'55 Thank You Remarks
I am grateful and feel honored to receive the Carol Haggarty award today.
For me this has particular significance because of my long history and friendship with the Haggarty family.
In the summer of 1956, Joan, Carol's sister who was in my class at Sheridan Road, Carol and I had gone swimming. Afterward we returned to their home for ice cream. While there, we were talking about sophomore year at college and I said, to their great surprise, that I was going to be a nun. Carol, who just finished eighth grade said, "Can I have the pink Bermuda short outfit you are wearing?" Carol got the pink Bermuda outfit and today I receive the Carol Haggarty award ... I think I got the better deal.

Thank you so much for this 2018 Sr. Catherine Seiker Award. I'm grateful, I'm humbled, and so honored and proud to be selected for this award.
This is very special to me. My heart is very touched because I'm receiving this award during our 50th class reunion—with so many of my classmates here! During the last few days, my classmates have been talking about their memories of Sacred Heart. I can only speak for myself—I attended Sacred Heart for 12 years—from 1st grade to graduating high school.
For me, I can honestly say, "My time here was truly a gift from God, and of course a gift from my parents!"

Undiscovered Country: A Novel Inspired by the Lives of Eleanor Roosevelt and Lorena Hickok Please join fellow parents of Sacred Heart alumni to hear current parent and New York Times reviewed author and current parent Kelly O'Connor McNees (A1) discuss her latest novel.
In 1932, New York City, top reporter Lorena "Hick" Hickok starts each day with a front-page byline and thirsts for her next story.
But an assignment to cover FDR's campaign―and write a feature on his wife, Eleanor―turns Hick's hard-won independent life on its ear. Soon her work, and the secret entanglement with the new first lady, will take her from New York and Washington to Scotts Run, West Virginia, where impoverished coal miners' families wait in fear that the New Deal's promise of hope will pass them by.
"Undiscovered Country" artfully mixes fact and fiction to portray the intense relationship between this unlikely pair. Inspired by the historical record, including the more than 3,000 letters Hick and Eleanor exchanged over a span of 30 years, McNees tells this story through Hick's tough, tender and unforgettable voice.

Snacks and beverages will be provided. Please RSVP to Ann Chiumino, Assistant Development Director, Alumni Relations.
Please visit Women and Children First to purchase your copy of the novel! In Memoriam
