Senior Kindergarten Regular Decision 2022-23

Children applying now for senior kindergarten 2022-23 will be 5-years old by September 1, 2022, born September 1, 2016 through August 31, 2017.

Senior kindergarten is Sacred Heart’s primary entrance point and brings together children from both our junior kindergarten program and other excellent early childhood programs across Chicago. Regular Decision is for families who wish to apply to Sacred Heart on a traditional admission cycle, beginning the fall before their child is ready to enter senior kindergarten.

While Sacred Heart’s senior kindergarten is often filled two years in advance with a combination of Early Decision applicants, siblings of current students, and children from our junior kindergarten program, spaces often become available for Regular Decision applicants in the year prior to senor kindergarten. The Admissions Office works closely with Regular Decision families through every step of the admissions process to ensure they are well informed and up-to-date as senior kindergarten spaces become available.

Admissions appointments can be scheduled through Ravenna, by calling the Admissions Office at 773.681.8494, or by emailing admissions@shschicago.org.

STEP ONE:  APPLY

Submit your application via Ravenna. There is a $75 fee for new family applications. If this fee presents a hardship for your family, please contact admissions@shschicago.org to obtain a fee waiver.

STEP TWO:  ATTEND A VIRTUAL INFORMATION SESSION

Selected weekdays, October through February, via Zoom

Join us for a virtual Information Session to hear from our Head of Schools, Director of Curriculum and Instruction, and current parents. Each session begins with presentations on the Sacred Heart Network, mission, and educational philosophy, and concludes with a question and answer session with current parents. Sacred Heart prioritizes families committed to Sacred Heart education through 8th grade; therefore, all parents are asked to learn about our SK - 8th grade program.

STEP THREE:  SCHEDULE A parent meeting

Weekdays, October through February, via Zoom

Meet virtually with a member of the Admissions Team to share information about your family, discuss the admissions process, and ask any questions you may have about Sacred Heart Schools. All parents/guardians are encouraged to attend. For your planning, meetings generally range from 45 to 60 minutes.

STEP FOUR:  SCHEDULE YOUR CHILD'S DEVELOPMENTAL ASSESSMENT

Weekday mornings, October through February, via Zoom

To help preserve our community's health and safety during the pandemic, we have transitioned from our traditional on-campus assessments to informal virtual meetings with children and parents via Zoom. Meetings range from 15-30 minutes and include simple, age-appropriate activities. Anticipate a relaxed, unpressured experience.

STEP five:  SUBMIT A TEACHER RECOMMENDATION

By January 1, 2022

If your child is enrolled in a preschool program, please delegate the Lake Michigan Association of Independent Schools (LMAIS) common recommendation form to your child's current teacher. The form is available electronically through Ravenna. You may also download a copy here

If your child is not enrolled in a preschool, another care-giver or instructor familiar with your child may complete the form.

ADMISSIONS NOTIFICATION AND ENROLLMENT AGREEMENT

Families are encouraged to complete the admissions process by January 12, 2022. Rolling notification begins January 25, as openings allow. Enrollment agreements are due February 19 or one week following notification.
