Junior Kindergarten 2021-22
Children applying now for junior kindergarten 2021-22 should be 4-years old by September 1, 2021, born September 1, 2016 through August 31, 2017.
Sacred Heart’s junior kindergarten program is located on our Preschool Campus at 5649 N. Sheridan Road on the grounds of Saint Andrew Greek Orthodox Church. The program is five days per week. Families may choose between a morning and full-day program. Extended day and summer options are also available.
Enrolling in Sacred Heart’s junior kindergarten is the first step in a seamless Sacred Heart educational experience that takes children through 8th grade. Enrollment in our preschool guarantees your child's space in our senior kindergarten. No further admissions process will be required.
Admissions appointments can be scheduled through Ravenna, by calling the Admissions Office at 773.681.8494, or by emailing firstname.lastname@example.org.
STEP ONE: APPLY
Submit your application via Ravenna-hub.com. Create an account and search for Sacred Heart Schools in the School Directory. There is a $75 fee for new families. Qualifying families can obtain a fee waiver by calling the Admissions Office. Preschool applicants will be asked to choose a morning or full-day schedule. Following enrollment, preschools families will be able to register for our optional extended day and summer programs.
STEP TWO: Attend a VIRTUAL ADMISSIONS INFORMATION SESSION
Selected weekdays, October through February, via Zoom
Zoom into an hour-long program with our Head of Schools, Director of Curriculum and Instruction, and current parents. Each session begins with presentations on the Sacred Heart Network, mission, and educational philosophy and concludes with a question and answer session. Sacred Heart prioritizes families committed to Sacred Heart education through 8th grade; therefore, all parents are asked to learn about our SK - 8th grade program.
STEP THREE: SCHEDULE A TALK AND TOUR
Weekdays, September through February, via Zoom
Meet one-on-one with a member of the Admissions Team and take a personalized, virtual tour of both the preschool and SK-8 campuses. We'll introduce you to Sacred Heart and answer your questions in real time. Meetings are about an hour.
STEP FOUR: SCHEDULE YOUR CHILD'S DEVELOPMENTAL ASSESSMENT
Weekday mornings, October through February, via Zoom
For the 2020-21 admissions season, we are transitioning from our traditional on-campus assessments to informal virtual meetings with children and parents via Zoom. Meetings range from 15-30 minutes and include simple, age-appropriate activities. Anticipate a relaxed, unpressured experience.
STEP FIVE: OPTIONAL PRESCHOOL OBSERVATION
January and February
If circumstances allow, the Admissions Office will schedule a brief observation at your child's preschool. We do not schedule observations at daycare centers or at public or parochial schools.
STEP SIX: SUBMIT A TEACHER RECOMMENDATION
By January 1, 2021
Please delegate the Lake Michigan Association of Independent Schools (LMAIS) recommendation form to your child’s current preschool teacher electronically through Ravenna or download a paper copy from our website. If your child is not enrolled in a preschool, another care-giver or instructor familiar with your child may complete the recommendation form.
ADMISSIONS NOTIFICATION AND Enrollment agreement
Families who complete the application process by February 19, 2021 will receive admissions decisions on March 5, 2021. Enrollment agreements are due March 15, 2021. Any spaces remaining after March 15 will be filled on a rolling basis.
