Senior Kindergarten Early Decision 2023-24
Children applying now for Early Decision 2022-23 will be 5-years old by September 1, 2023, born September 1, 2017 through August 31, 2018.
If you are a member of a preschool community other than Sacred Heart's, but would like to reserve a space in our senior kindergarten, we encourage you to apply via Early Decision. Children receiving early acceptance remain at their current preschool for their 4-year-old program, and parents are assured a space is waiting for them at Sacred Heart when their child is 5-years old and ready for SK. About 70% of our students will be new to Sacred Heart in senior kindergarten.
Admissions appointments can be scheduled through Ravenna, by calling the Admissions Office at 773.681.8494, or by emailing admissions@shschicago.org.
STEP ONE: APPLY
Submit your application via Ravenna. Once logged in, select "Applying for the fall of 2022" at the top of the screen. To begin your child's application, select the grade "SK" and the application called "JK 2022-23 or SK 2023-24 Early Decision." JK and SK Early Decision share an application and families will be asked to indicate a program preference on their application forms.
There is a $75 fee for new family applications. If this fee presents a hardship for your family, please contact the Admissions Team at admissions@shschicago.org to obtain a fee waiver.
STEP TWO: Attend a VIRTUAL INFORMATION SESSION
Selected weekdays, October through February, via Zoom
Join us for a virtual Information Session to hear from our Head of Schools, Director of Curriculum and Instruction, and current parents. Each session begins with presentations on the Sacred Heart Network, mission, and educational philosophy, and concludes with a question and answer session with current parents. Sacred Heart prioritizes families committed to Sacred Heart education through 8th grade; therefore, all parents are asked to learn about our SK - 8th grade program.
STEP THREE: SCHEDULE a parent meeting
Weekdays, October through February, via Zoom
Meet virtually with a member of the Admissions Team to share information about your family, discuss the admissions process, and ask any questions you may have about Sacred Heart Schools. All parents/guardians are encouraged to attend. For your planning, meetings generally range from 45 to 60 minutes.
STEP FOUR: SCHEDULE YOUR CHILD'S ASSESSMENT
Weekday mornings, October through February, via Zoom
To help preserve our community's health and safety during the pandemic, we have transitioned from our traditional on-campus assessments to informal virtual meetings with children and parents via Zoom. Meetings range from 15-30 minutes and include simple, age-appropriate activities. Anticipate a relaxed, unpressured experience.
STEP five: SUBMIT A TEACHER RECOMMENDATION
By January 1, 2022
If your child is enrolled in a preschool program, please delegate the Lake Michigan Association of Independent Schools (LMAIS) common recommendation form to your child's current teacher. The form is available electronically through Ravenna. You may also download a copy here.
If your child is not enrolled in a preschool, another care-giver or instructor familiar with your child may complete the form.
ADMISSIONS NOTIFICATION AND ENROLLMENT AGREEMENT
Families who complete the application process by February 17, 2022 will receive admissions decisions on March 4, 2022. Pre-enrollment agreements are due March 14, 2022.
