Angel Brunch
Sacred Heart Schools’ Angel Brunch originated in 1958 as an
event to present and celebrate the graduating ladies of the Academy who
attended the all-girls high school. Some years later, the gathering evolved to become
the Schools’ primary fundraising event, complete with ad-sponsored parties. The
event’s thick programs were filled with ads taken out by supporters and
included photos of Academy and Hardey graduates. Subsequently, Angel Brunch developed
into the present-day event, at which the Schools’ newest Academy and Hardey graduates
are inducted into the Sheridan Road Alumni Association (SRAA). The ceremony includes a procession of all flags representing
countries in which there is a Sacred Heart presence. Academy students receive engraved charms and
Hardey students are given lapel pins. Each student is also gifted with their
personalized Christmas lamb, the same one they received upon their arrival at
Sheridan Road. Lastly, the new alumni are presented with an International
Passport, which identifies the holder as a lifetime member of the worldwide
Sacred Heart community. More than a keepsake, the Passport has served as a
means of introduction and even a source of help in the countries where the
Society of the Sacred Heart is located. This year, Angel Brunch will be on June 8, 2019. We look forward to celebrating with the new alumni from Sheridan Road! |
