Faculty and Staff Appreciation

On Tuesday, December 4, 2018, Parents of the Heart is delighted to host our annual breakfast, celebrating the Schools’ faculty and staff. We will transform the cafeteria into a festive holiday setting, and our guests will enjoy a buffet breakfast with holiday cheer and surprise gifts. This breakfast is a great opportunity to express our gratitude to our extraordinary teachers, administrators and staff. In the evening, a special holiday dinner honors the school’s night-time staff.

We need your help!

This is an entirely volunteer-driven event! The effort of all parents is what makes the Faculty and Staff Holiday Appreciation Breakfast/Dinner a success. Donating to this event is the preferred method of saying “thank you” to all the wonderful people who touch our children’s lives. Please consider giving a cash donation, gift-in-kind, or volunteering your time - choose one or all three!

Please contribute to this event at

If you wish to donate a gift-in-kind or to send in a check, please return the form below along with your gift to the Development Office, Attention: Heather Yap.

This event is shortly after the Thanksgiving holiday. Due to this timeline, adherence to the Tuesday, November 27 deadline for donations and volunteer registration is greatly appreciated.

What is the Faculty and Staff Holiday Appreciation Breakfast?

The breakfast is the primary vehicle for Sacred Heart parents to express gratitude to the faculty and staff during the holidays for their work on behalf of our children year-round.

The breakfast takes the place of individual gifts to teachers and ensures an equitable distribution of “holiday cheer” among faculty and staff.

The breakfast – scheduled for Tuesday, December 4 at 7:15 am in the cafeteria – is organized and hosted by Parents of the Heart. Parent volunteers will be needed as early as 7 am.

Food is provided by a catering company and rounded out by delicious baked goods made by parent volunteers.

Each guest will receive a small goodie bag and a cash gift.

Each guest is also entered in a drawing which gives him/her a chance to win parent-donated items.

In past years, the drawing included stays at vacation homes or hotels, an iPad, restaurant gift cards and tickets to the theater and sporting events.

What is the Faculty/Staff Holiday Appreciation Dinner?

The dinner is similar to the breakfast, but it honors night-time staff. It is an intimate catered dinner on December 4 at 6 pm. Guests also receive a small goodie bag, a cash gift and participate in drawings. Volunteers are needed.

What does this mean to you?

The cash gifts and the items for the drawing come from donations made by parents.

The Schools’ gift-giving policy discourages individual gifts to teachers and staff, and room parents will not collect for group gifts.

Donating to the breakfast/dinner is your chance to show gratitude to all of the wonderful people who touch your children’s lives every day.

Please note that your contribution is essentially a Christmas gift to the faculty and staff and is not considered a donation to the school.

How much should I give?

Donations in years past have ranged from $5 to $500+ per family.

The amount you choose to give is up to you. Contributions of any amount are deeply appreciated.

For the past few years, through the generosity of our parents, we were able to give $300 to each full-time employee and $75 to each part-time employee.

All donations should be submitted through the online form. If you are giving a check please attach it to the “Gift-in-Kind & Check Donation Form” included in this packet, and send your contribution to the attention of Heather Yap in the Development Office. Checks should be made out to Sacred Heart Schools and earmarked for the “Faculty/Staff Breakfast.”

Can I give gifts-in-kind?

Yes! Gifts-in-kind will go into the raffle drawing and make some lucky employee very happy.

Gifts such as $25 Starbucks gift cards, $100 Nordstrom gift card, restaurant gift cards, tickets to the theater or a sporting event are appreciated. Whatever you think our staff would enjoy!

If you are giving a gift-in-kind, please attach it to the “Gift-in-Kind & Check Donation Form” included in this packet, and send your contribution to the attention of Heather Yap in the Development Office.

Can I volunteer?

Yes! Sign up to volunteer at Help is needed decorating the cafeteria the evening before, baking breakfast goodies, supervising arriving students the morning of the breakfast, serving during the breakfast and cleaning-up afterwards. Volunteers are also needed for the dinner. Parents of 8th grade students (youngest or only student) will have first choice.

If you have any questions or suggestions, please contact Lisa Blume, Laura Carrillo, Colleen Mansell, Tara Shannon, Sheila Troy & Mesgana Woldeyesus.
